Krzysztof Głuchowski – Director of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre, Director, and Actor
Krzysztof Głuchowski has lived in Kraków since 1986. He is a graduate of the Acting Department of the AST National Academy of Theatre Arts in Kraków, where he completed his diploma performance in Sketches from The Man Without Qualities by Robert Musil, directed by Krystian Lupa. He made his stage debut in 1991 at the Stary Teatr in Kraków in Malte albo Tryptyk marnotrawnego syna by Rainer Maria Rilke, also directed by Krystian Lupa.
For nearly three decades, he has worked as a curator and organizer of exhibitions, as well as a theatre, film, and television producer, film distributor, and festival producer. He has produced projects involving renowned artists such as Krystian Lupa, Krzysztof Warlikowski, and Jan Peszek. He was the first director of the Bunkier Sztuki Gallery of Contemporary Art and the Manggha Museum of Japanese Art and Technology.
He co-organized numerous major cultural events, including the international Nowe Horyzonty International Film Festival, Off Festival in Katowice, the Off Camera International Festival of Independent Cinema in Kraków, and the International Theatre Festival Divine Comedy (Boska Komedia). Since 2019, he has served as President of the Stanisław Wyspiański Association.
Since September 2016, he has been the General and Artistic Director of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Kraków. At the theatre, he directed Born by BONEY M. and has also performed in productions such as Act of Killing directed by Jan Klata, as well as Dziady and Wesele directed by Maja Kleczewska.
His achievements have earned him numerous distinctions, including the Zygmunt Hübner Award “Man of Theatre” (2023), the City of Kraków Award in the Culture and Arts category (2023), and recognition in Jacek Sieradzki’s Subjective List of Theatre Actors for the e-teatr platform in 2024, where he received top honors.
